These reversed phase TLC plates have been manufacturer to be only 50% silanized.
TLC layers that are 100% silanized are extremely hydrophobic so this layer offers a happy medium for those applications involving slightly or highly aqueous mobile phases.
Another less expensive option Analtech offers is CAT# 63077 (with fluorescent indicator – UV254).
Also, the fluorescent indicator in this plate is acid resistant.
